EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH
Denver, Colorado

Church History

Rev. DeWayne Moore, after much prayer and meditation, was led by the Spirit of God to put together a Transition Team, for the purpose of organizing Ebenezer Baptist Church. The Lord gave the name Ebenezer to Pastor Moore because He promised to help us and the name Ebenezer means “The Lord has helped Us.” Our first meeting was held at the home of Deacon and Deaconess Hank and Christine Brown on October 1, 2012, at 6 p.m.

All necessary paperwork was filed by Sister Jeri Rose with the state allowing us to operate as a religious organization on October 2, 2012.  We are legally registered in the State of Colorado as Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Our first worship service was held on October 14, 2012, at 12 noon at the Summit Events Center in Aurora, Colorado.  Over three hundred worshippers came to witness and help us celebrate our new ministry.  Our pastor preached a dynamic message entitled, “It’s Shouting Time!”, and oh did we do some shouting that day.

On October 20, 2012, Ebenezer Baptist Church was admitted into the Northern District Baptist Association at the Morning Star Baptist Church led by Pastor Hardy D. Swazer, Moderator.  On November 10, 2012, at New Hope Baptist Church in Pueblo, Colorado, it was moved by Bishop Acen Phillips, Pastor of New Birth Temple of Praise Church of Denver, and seconded by Pastor James Dotson of Trinity Baptist Church of Colorado Springs, that the Ebenezer Baptist Church be accepted as a member of the Western States Baptist Convention, the vote was unanimous and approved by President Frank M. Davis.

In March of 2013, we installed Reverend DeWayne Moore as our Founding Senior Pastor.

On Friday, March 1, 2013, we had our Pastoral Installation Musical.  Hundreds came from Colorado, Texas, and Wyoming to help us lift up the Lord in song.

On Saturday, March 2, 2013, we had our Pastoral Installation Luncheon, where over 500 hundred people came to say congratulations to Ebenezer and our First Family.  Pastor Randolph C. West of St. Stephen Baptist Church was our Luncheon speaker. His Subject was “A Drunk Church!”

On Sunday, March 3, 2013, at our 12 Noon service Bishop Acen Phillips, Senior Pastor of New Birth Temple of Praise Baptist Church was our speaker.  His Subject was “God Needed an Agitator to Start Ebenezer!”

Our Pastoral Installation concluded with our formal service being held on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at 4:00 p.m.  Over 700 hundred people attended our Pastor’s Installation Service.  All of the officers of the Baptist Ministers Conference of Metro Denver and the Western States Baptist Convention were present to witness this grand occasion. Rev. Frank M. Davis, Pastor of Zion Baptist Church and President of the Western States Baptist Convention served as the installation preacher.  His Subject was “Pastor and People Rejoicing Together” taken from Psalms 118:23-24 (KJV) 23 This is the LORD’S doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. 24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Since 2012, Pastor has ordained eight Deacons and licensed three Ministers to the Gospel Ministry, Rev. Dr. Dennis Booker, Rev. Gerald Caldwell, and Rev. Paul Rose, III. We currently have one minister in training, Sister Alicia McKinney. The Lord has also blessed us with many talented ministers who are blessing to EBC: Rev. Paul Rose, Jr., Assistant Pastor, Rev. Dr. Larry Z. Brown, Associate Pastor, Rev. Nathaniel Black and Rev. Hayward Hobbs, Associate Ministers and Ministers of Music.

Since 2015, The New Aspen Christian College and Seminary has come under the spiritual umbrella of Ebenezer, which encourages all leadership to reach their goals in higher education.

Ebenezer continues to be one of Denver’s leading congregations and we have earned the respect of the entire religious community for our excellent spiritual leadership and gifted music ministry under the direction of Rev. Nathaniel Black and Rev. Hayward Hobbs.  We’ve come a long way and with the Lord’s help, we still have a long way to go!

“THUS FAR THE LORD HAS HELPED US”!
